GCSE exams have begun!

A massive good luck to all of our year 11 students, who began their written exams this week.  Some students completed their art exam last week, with more written exams to come.  We will all of our students well in the exams and know that all their hard work and revision will pay off in their achievements.

Mental Health and Wellbeing awareness

Today at Townsend we celebrated Mental Health and wellbeing awareness, with a number of activities in our Discovery Centre.  Students were asked to write on a paper sheet a "tweet" about mental health and any advice to a friend.  This was followed by a musical performance by two students, with a presentation for Learning for Life co ordinator Ms Dan about mental illnesses and famous cases of illness.  The activities helped to make students more aware of mental health and how to be caring towards each other, looking after each other's wellbeing.

Margaret Wix Careers Fair

Last Thursday Mrs Maguire and Miss Anthony visited Margaret Wix primary school to take part in their careers fair.  Miss Anthony set up a table of science experiments to show the children, whilst Mrs Maguire spoke to students about careers in teaching and what it involves to become a teacher.  The children had some great questions pre prepared to ask their visitors and were all very interested in hearing about teaching careers!

Year 10 completed work experience

A massive well done to all year 10 students for completing their work experience last week.  We hope you all enjoyed your time at your placements, with lots of photos of your work and entries into your work experience diaries!  We have had brilliant feedback from employers who have been extremely pleased with the students' attitudes to work and willingness to get stuck in!
