Today is the last day of the academic year, with school finishing at 12:30pm.
To celebrate, our sports assembly was held this morning, with Ellie Baker, former pupil of Townsend C of E school, returning to the school today to present certificates and Sports Personality of the Year awards to students at the school. Ellie became English Schools 800m senior champion last week and will now be looking to going to the World Junior competition representing Great Britain.
We wish all the students a lovely summer holiday, ready to come back in September refreshed and raring to go for the next year!

Yesterday was Townsend school's Enrichment Day, where students got to partake in school trips offsite and a number of on site activities, including Masterchef vs bake off in food technology! We hope everyone had fun wherever they visited yesterday to celebrate the end of term!

Primary schools new intake
Last Friday and last Monday the new year 7 students visited Townsend, carrying out the activities of a normal school day for our students. In English, students were introduced to our reading scheme, Accelerated Reader, as well as creating their own student passports, with information all about them. They were also set their summer challenge - to write a postcard to Townsend with details of a book they have read over summer.
We look forward to welcoming you all in September!

Visit from Anne Maine for Send my friend to school
Last Thursday local MP Anne Maine visited Townsend to talk to students about our work as part of the Send my Friend to school campaign. Student ambassadors talked to Anne about facts about how many children don't go to school around the world, and also showed her their work and displays for the campaign, which Anne will take to parliament to add to the other work created by other schools. The students really enjoyed Anne's visit, with lots of ideas generated to help others get into school and learning around the world.
