Summer holidays start now!

We hope you all have a lovely summer break, well done for a fantastic year and we look forward to seeing you all back in September!

Craft Club

Over the past year a new addition, Craft Club, has been taking place in the Discovery Centre.  Along with help form STEP and Mrs Trigg, students have had the chance to sign up for this exclusive club and try their hand at a number of different activities and skills, including clay, paper craft, sensory bottles, dream catchers and solar systems!

If you would like to join up next year please see Mrs Rice once the notice has gone out in September!

Shakespeare Exhibition last week

Last Friday saw a Shakespeare Exhibition being held in the Discovery Centre.  Students from years 7 and 8 have been working on a project in which they have to create their own Shakespeare related artefact, along with a write up of what it is and how they made it.  The centre was open at lunchtime for all students to view the pieces, as well as for staff to judge the winning entries!  Well done to all students, such a lot of work had gone into the projects and they looked fantastic!

Successful Year 6 taster day

Last Thursday the year 6 students who are joining Townsend in September all came in for a "Taster Day" with different session run throughout the day to show what life at Townsend is like.

Subjects students took part in included PE with a game of rounders, French (learning the alphabet), Art (drawing sweets), Media studies (learning media conventions and terms), Science (making Magnesium Oxide), Music (creating rhythms in groups), Drama (learning skills in games) and Food Technology, making cookies, which were given out to the whole group in the afternoon before going home.  Students also met STEP who work closely at Townsend, and were also reacquainted with their form tutors for an ice breaker session.

A big thank you to all the staff who supported and ran sessions on the day, and a huge thank you to Miss Scott who organised everything ready for the sessions.

We look forward to seeing all the year 6 students in their purple Townsend blazers in September!!

SPORTS DAY results!

SPORTS DAY
A big thank you to all parents/carers who came in on Wednesday to support our students on another fantastic Sports Day. Luckily the weather came through and we were able to hold the event as planned.

All student performed fantastically across the events with a range of success stories leading up to a very close final score, with only 6 points between forms in some year groups, showing that every competitors scores counted greatly to the overall forms performance.

NEW INTAKE EVENING THURSDAY JULY 6TH
On Thursday 6th we welcome our new Year 7 students for Sept 2017 with their parents/carers. If you have any unwanted uniform please do drop it off into school before this date so we can make it available to our new families who may be interested. If you by any chance are able to assist with our new Intake Evening on Thursday from about 5.30-7.00 we also would be very grateful for your help.
