MAYOR’S PRIDE AWARDS 2017

MAYOR’S PRIDE AWARDS 2017
Townsend was a finalist at the Mayor’s Pride Awards 2017 at St Michael’s Manor this week. We were nominated under the Inclusive Communities Award in recognition of a ‘community initiative that genuinely unites people of different ethnic, faith or social economic backgrounds’. Although the Awards recognised Townsend as an inclusive school it made particular reference to the ‘Break and Tech’ Saturday club that supports community members to improve their IT skills. The Club is run by sixth formers.
Although we did not win the Award it was a proud evening for us. It was also interesting that another finalist in our category was one of our  parent/carers and yet another associate of the school (ex-student) was recording the evening for Radio Verulam!
A big thanks to Mrs Quenet (Governor) and Mr Kelleher (who helped set up the club). I think we can say we are a true ’community school’!
