CHELSEA’S CHOICE
This Theatre in Education production took place with year 9 on Wednesday of this week. It was a hard hitting story about child sexual exploitation and gave out a number of very important safety messages to the students. These included; if students are using social media or online gaming sites their privacy setting on the computer they are using should be at the highest point possible; at no point should any child send any explicit photograph of themselves to anyone else for any reason; online no one really knows who they are talking to; people are very skilled and clever with regards to grooming young people particularly those who are vulnerable (making children feel special and presenting them with gifts or allegedly treating them like adults). Do talk to your child about what they heard and get them to give you the important messages they learned!
Finally, all students were given a leaflet about the production and on the back were several helplines and websites children could access if they felt they were worried about anything or wanted to talk to someone about what they had seen or what was going on in their lives. They were also encouraged to talk to parents/carers and teachers if they were anxious.

Easter Holidays

Enrichment days this week
Lots of great activities and trips have taken place this week across all year groups for our three enrichment days.

Sports relief tomorrow
Don't forget - sports relief is being celebrated in school tomorrow, with a "Crazy tie" day - bring in 50p to be able to wear a crazy tie for the day and help raise money for sport relief! Activities will also be taking place in school at break and lunchtimes, check out the timetables dotted around school to see.
Creative and Performing Arts show tonight
The Townsend Creative and Performing Arts show takes place tonight starting at 7:00pm in the Alban Arena in St Albans town. Tickets can be collected from the school reception until 4:45pm tonight.
Lots of great work will be shown at the display, with students having practised hard throughout the past few weeks. Good luck everyone!

Spring Fair fundraising
Despite the dreadful weather on the day, the school made over £1000 for Friends of Townsend(PTA) funds!
The money raised goes a long way to fund further educational projects in school which we would not otherwise be able to afford.
Many thanks to all Parent/Carers who helped in a variety of ways, including helping to organise, setting up on the Friday, running stalls on the Saturday and clearing up afterwards.
EASTER HAMPER RAFFLE
There are now 5 great Easter Egg / Chocolate Hampers / Surprise Chocolate Boxes to be won as part of the Easter Egg raffle!
Tickets are still available from reception at £1 each or £5 a book.
The draw will take place on Wednesday 23rd of March, make sure you get your tickets before then to be in with a chance of winning a great chocolatey prize!
BAGS 2 SCHOOL
We are currently collecting clothes, shoes, belt and bags to raise money for charities.
PLEASE Don't hand in any bed linen, curtains or towels - unfortunately these aren't accepted by the companies!
Please bring in or send in via your son/daughter (in smaller bags) any of your items. We can then put in the companies bags to be collected early next term. Thank you
